QR Code is a matrix type of bar code.  QR Code is an open standard and a registered trademark of Denso Wave Inc.  QR Code is capable of handling all types of data, such as numeric and alphabetic characters, Kanji, Kana, Hiragana, symbols, binary, and control codes.  Despite its many uses, QR Code is a plain old matrix code.

Mobile tagging is the process of providing data on mobile devices, commonly through the use of data (such as a URL) encoded in a two-dimensional barcode, meant to be read and inputted using a camera phone.  Mobile tagging connects static information carriers with the Internet and encourages the interactive behavior of the user.  Mobile technology is changing the way we interact; QR codes will take interactions to another level.  It was developed in 2003 and ever since it has been used in several fields of mobile marketing.  The reason for the success of mobile tagging, besides the flexible and multiple fields of application, is the quick, precise and customer-driven access to information.

How is it possible to add a smart code to my own website?  You can encode either a link to a website, a message to a friend, or your contact details.  Select what kind of barcode you want to create (QR Code or Data Matrix), then type in the web address (URL) or text you want to encode, and watch the mobile barcode being created, instantly.  A notice on their website states that no license or royalty fees are required for use provided that a proper copyright notice is included that refers to Denso Wave, Inc.

QR Code is easily digested by scanning equipment, and because it has potentially twice the amount of data as bar code, it can increase the effectiveness of such scanning.  The QR code is the future that the brand is experimenting with at this point and is not ready to get the full benefit.  The use of QR Code is gaining in popularity because customers can easily get information via a cell phone.  The QR Code is a 2-dimensional bar code that can be encoded with addresses or URL’s.

Hp cloudprint is a service developed by computer company hewlett-packard in association with research in motion (rim), the developer of the blackberry smartphone. It is web-based, which means all you need to have in order to access hp cloudprint is a computer, or in some cases, a blackberry phone. Using hp cloudprint is very easy, and the service makes it a lot more convenient for us to get our job done even when we are on the go. So far, hp cloudprint is only available in the united states, in canada, the united kingdom and europe. Cloudprint is a technology that will allow users to save a file on the hp service/site, and then recover it form anywhere to print the same. Cloudprint is printer agnostic, driverless and requires simple internet or intranet access. Like many technologies, i’m sure hp’s cloudprint is based on technologies that have come to market (or stayed in a lab) before it. The real power of cloudprint is that it works on all printers – even existing printers.

TryPhone is an cool new online tool that allows users to test out certain phones for free — all without a sales representative pressuring you to buy a phone you can’t afford or figure out how to use.  TryPhone is also including user reviews and tutorials on how to use some basic phone functions such as adding a new contact, viewing a missed call or changing the phone’s wallpaper.  TryPhone is still in beta and the cell phone demos are limited to four handsets: the Apple iPhone, LG Muziq, Samsung Juke, and BlackBerry Pearl.  Tryphone is a new site that aims to let you virtually test-drive handsets online too.  TryPhone says “the goal of TryPhone is to show you how things REALLY work (not how they were designed to work) – without marketing hype – to help you make a better, more informed purchasing decision.

I am always amazed by the number of mobile apps available these days.  I came across drivesafe.ly while looking on a free software download site.  I have not downloaded and used this application yet, but I will let you know how I do with this application once I use it.  This application will read your text (SMS) messages and emails aloud and automatically reply to the sender without touching the mobile phone while you drive.  This lets you focus on your driving and not on the phone.  Please enjoy the introductory video that I have recorder.
